The project is a renovation of a pre-owned residence. The homeowner has a strong appreciation for European classical furniture in gold and silver tones, yet wished to avoid falling into a stereotypical interpretation of luxury. From the outset, the design process took an inverse approach. Rather than defining the space through a fixed stylistic framework, the designers used the homeowner’s collection as the starting point to shape the character.
Beneath the surface of opulence, the project recalibrates the rhythm of luxury for a contemporary lifestyle. Classic style is translated into a modern context, preserving its sense of grandeur while refining proportions, light, and materiality. This approach allows the space to move away from the heaviness often associated with traditional palace-style interiors, resulting in a living environment that remains elegant, adaptable, and appreciable over time.
True luxury is not defined by the materials themselves, but by whether a space can endure over time. In response to the homeowner’s desire to avoid frequent large-scale renovations, the project introduces a replaceable modular leather panel system. Wall surfaces are assembled using a clip-in mechanism, allowing decorative panels to be rearranged or replaced like puzzle pieces according to changing moods, eras, or collections. This intelligent system transforms decorative abundance into a sustainable and evolving lifestyle aesthetic.
The layout was also reconfigured into a more open and fluid arrangement to accommodate frequent gatherings and social activities. The entrance orientation was adjusted to extend visual depth, enabling smooth circulation and comfortable interaction even when hosting multiple guests. Lighting plays a crucial role in bridging classical and contemporary elements. RGB ambient lighting allows the atmosphere to shift freely for entertaining, singing, or quiet relaxation. Combined with motorized curtains and smart home systems, the residence accommodates multiple living scenarios—from welcoming guests and showcasing collections to karaoke and bathing—within a single unified space.
