Tella Thera is a five-star boutique eco-hotel in Crete, designed for conscious travellers seeking slow living, sustainability, and understated luxury. Rooted in deep respect for land and local culture, the hotel approaches hospitality as an organic system, where architecture, materials, food, and rituals are inseparable from place and time. Every detail is carefully curated to reconnect guests with nature, quality time, and themselves.
This philosophy is embodied in the olive oil bottle offered to guests. Conceived not as a souvenir but as a continuation of the stay, the object translates Tella Thera’s values into form, material, and use. It reflects the belief that true luxury lies in care, intention, and connection rather than excess.
The container is made of clay and takes its form from the olive itself. Soft, rounded, and organic, its silhouette echoes the fruit that carries the oil within it. A pronounced dent in the surface marks the human imprint, introducing touch and intervention into the object. Rather than striving for symmetry or perfection, the design embraces natural irregularity, allowing the bottle to feel familiar, alive, and human. Its ergonomic proportions and velvety surface invite handling and everyday use, reinforcing the idea that it is meant to be lived with rather than displayed.
The choice of clay is both symbolic and practical. Earth-derived, breathable, and timeless, it connects the object directly to the terrain that produced its contents. Finished in white, the bottle avoids decorative colour, allowing form, texture, and material to lead.
Printed on the surface is the hotel’s logo, accompanied by the phrase “Taste that nurtures both body and soul.” This is not a marketing message, but a distilled expression of the hotel’s philosophy.
As a designed object, the olive oil bottle extends the Tella Thera experience beyond the physical stay. It travels with the guest, carrying a piece of Crete and a way of living that values sustainability, locality, and presence. In this project, hospitality, product design, and environmental awareness converge into a single artefact that remains subtle, grounded, and deeply human.
