Located in the heart of the Haitang Bay, Sanya’s National Coast, this project is designed as an international destination for wellness living. It's a place for all ages—where families come to pause, reconnect, and let time slow down together.
The architecture draws from the Mediterranean vernacular—not as a reproduction of a distant place, but as a response to Sanya’s inherent vibrancy. Here, terracotta clay tiles enter into dialogue with the blue of sea and sky; whitewashed walls become canvases for sunlight; and every pause immerses people in the interplay of light and shadow.
The buildings unfold toward the sea in a staggered rhythm. Pitched roofs, arched colonnades, latticed screens—centuries-old strategies for living with intense sun are reinterpreted here. They are not ornamentation but elements of spatial respiration, tempering harsh light, filtering dappled shade, inviting the wind to move through at its own pace. Across more than 46,000 square meters, the scale gives way to everyday moments: morning light through arched windows, afternoons in the shade of traveler’s palms, and dusk light falling on the pool. These are the moments that make “wellness living” feel truly alive.
The landscape is a performance that never ends. Color shifts with the flowering seasons—from the flame of royal poinciana to the persistence of bougainvillea—as tropical exuberance speaks in its most uninhibited voice. The central water feature reflects the sky and sea, drawing their essence into the garden—a living vessel that holds every expression of light, from dawn’s clarity to dusk’s gold.
At its heart, this project answers a simple question: When life is no longer about rushing, what kind of place do people want to share with their loved ones? At the Haitang Bay, that place exists—where architecture responds to the tropical climate, spaces are shaped by natural light, and everyday life becomes the foundation of holistic wellness.
