SENSE OF ELEGANCE

Located in the urban core of Jinan, the project takes the cultural imagery of shuxiang mendì (a scholarly lineage) as its conceptual point of departure, integrating an international community lifestyle to reconfigure reading, fitness, and leisure into a continuous, open, and immersive spatial sequence. This approach achieves a dual enhancement of functional integration and experiential depth.
In terms of spatial strategy, the design draws inspiration from the refined and understated character of the lily, using it as a metaphor for both form and atmosphere. Through the application of wood-grain textures, low-saturation color palettes, and the introduction of natural daylight, a warm yet restrained spatial tone is established. The reading lounge adopts “humanistic values and nature” as its narrative core, softening the purely functional perception of the podium level and transforming reading into an everyday dialogue with nature.
The children’s reading area employs child-friendly spatial proportions and IP elements to create an exploratory environment where learning and play coexist. The fitness spaces follow a design language of natural forest aesthetics combined with modern minimalism, integrating strength and cardio functions while introducing daylight, greenery, and natural wood finishes to mitigate the industrial character of conventional gyms. A balance between functionality and experiential quality is achieved across both training zones, guided by the ethos of “discipline as freedom,” in response to contemporary high-quality communities’ aspirations for health, order, and sustainable lifestyles.
Through design, the project addresses the multifaceted demands of today’s urban elites for spiritual belonging, healthy living, and aesthetic order, while exploring a human-centered expression of public clubhouse spaces and sustainable modes of living.
