The General Room is a boutique co-working space located at TripleOne Somerset along Orchard Road, Singapore. Designed as a refined business environment for professionals, the project reinterprets shared workspaces through a strong conceptual narrative inspired by the persona of a military general defined by precision, discipline and strategic clarity while remaining warm, approachable and socially engaging.
Spanning approximately 5,361 sqft, the interior balances openness and enclosure to support a wide range of working modes. The space accommodates hot desks, dedicated desks, private offices, meeting rooms, and conference facilities, carefully zoned to allow seamless transitions between focused work, collaboration and informal interaction. Glass partitions are extensively used to maintain visual connectivity while ensuring acoustic privacy for reinforcing a sense of transparency without compromising confidentiality.
The arrival sequence is designed to be welcoming yet composed. A combined reception, concierge, and café counter serves as a central social node, encouraging spontaneous interaction and networking among members. Material selections emphasize warmth and tactility, with layered lighting and custom furniture contributing to a sophisticated but comfortable atmosphere.
Meeting rooms and communal areas adopt a contemporary interpretation of classic detailing. Black aluminum frames, ribbed textured glass, and paneled wall treatments introduce rhythm and depth, while varied ceiling designs from timber trellis ceilings to open ceilings with feature lighting subtly articulate different spatial functions.
