Earth Worker

The "Earth Worker" is inspired by the past aboriginal group "Makadao" in Pingtung area. Because it belongs to the matriarchal society, it takes "Mother Earth" as the design direction and sets the legendary story to extend to the design. The semi-representative humanoid device is like a giant standing in the water, using both hands to create all things on the earth, and the stem buds growing on the hand symbolize "all things". The design on both sides of the body shape has its own meaning, one overlooking the earth, the other one looks up at the sky, and there is a gate for gestation in his body. All the life of all souls comes out from the gate, and on the other hand is the naughty creature "human" who jumps out of the gate, who is the protagonist of the plot. In order to integrate the visual atmosphere of the environment and the storyline of the creation setting, the designer chooses the cement mortar that is elegant, fine and rough in color as the main material. With the hand-feel temperature of the sculpture and relief technique, the simple visual form is placed in the shadow of the lake, the water surface, the woods, and the blue sky that connect the wetland to become a beautiful scene, hoping to provide the viewer with relaxation, respite, and enjoy the tranquility of environment. At the same time, the work evokes local memories and creates deeper cultural resonance.
