Inside Out is a challenge to indoor living by transforming the apartment unit into an outdoor experience. From forest, caves to waterfall, the designer sets up a series of scenarios for the young couple to inhabit differently. A picnic in a house or a conversation at the rock pool is no longer unimaginable. The spatial experience creates potentials for interaction, conversation and shaping possibilities that exceed normal homes.
This project reflects our belief that activities are the main drivers of healthy relationships. We aim to shift a monotonous life to a memorable adventure. The living space draws similarity from houses’ front yard and mimics the experience of having a decent conversation under the canopy of trees while the dining room takes references from camping at a remote cave.
The tree tunnel opens up the path to the bedroom and the study. They are designed as a waterfall at the back of a wooden cabin. The connected space is both a place for leisure and a relaxing workplace. The young couple could accompany each other by finding a suitable seating spot for different work and leisure combinations.
Inside Out reconsidered what a home could potentially become, creating a whole new form of living.
