The Covid-19 pandemic has stirred the world into warding off current and future pandemic threats with a greater emphasis on the enhancement of cleanliness and hygiene in the new normal. As disinfection, sanitisation and cleaning becomes an integral part of our daily life, it challenges us to rethink what constitutes a safe environment in our social fabric during these uncertain times.
Aery was developed to help people regain confidence in social interaction when sharing a common space. It utilises a dual stage approach that leverages on UV-C technology and heat to accelerate the pathogens 'kill' rate.
The system’s first stage of disinfection is through heat. By repurposing the waste heat from the UV-C LED, the untreated air pushing through the heatsink fins will accelerate the viral killing rate. The second stage of disinfection is through the exposure to UV-C. The heated air is then pulled through a series of bends located under the UV-C LED. The purposeful air channel design maximises the UV exposure duration and further reduces viral survivability.
The external housing is made of A380 die-cast aluminium alloy for its high corrosion resistance and easy machinability while possessing the best combination of casting, mechanical and thermal properties. Aery offers a sense of safety to users in a space while harmonising easily with many interior settings due to its minimalistic design.
