The project is located on an undeveloped wasteland in Grenada in the southeastern Caribbean, adjacent to Mt. Hartman National Park. The design is based on ecological priorities, taking into account measures to build symbiosis with the surrounding natural environment, through wetland management, mangrove conservation, restoration of quarry damage, and the protection and enhancement of existing dove habitat and marine resources. Architectural sustainability is a central point, and through place-making we hope to maximize ecological value while attempting to establish landmarks and enrich the user community, thereby bringing significant social, economic and environmental benefits to the area. We want to present a large "eco-museum" that is accessible, friendly to people and symbiotic with nature.
The project is a complex ecological university town with research institutes, international education campus, medical centers, commercial and recreational facilities. Through proactive ecological management and development, the project will turn wasteland into a treasure trove, creating an educational and cultural center that embodies the highest standards of sustainable design.
The project will aim to improve and protect the environment and promote socially integrated and economically sustainable development. Natural and environmentally friendly hydro and light energy resources will be used to minimize waste and carbon emissions. Infrastructure, transportation, management and support facilities will be integrated to reduce environmental impacts, preserve natural resources and set the standard for sustainable development in Grenada as a best practice. The architectural design strategy takes full advantage of natural ventilation and natural lighting as a starting point to create its own microclimate. Supplemented with solar photovoltaic curtain wall integration power generation technology, combined with ground source heat pump system to achieve effective conversion between light, electricity and geothermal energy, creating a true zero carbon energy saving urban living room, storing energy for urban power, meeting the power supply around the project and solving the problem of local power shortage. We believe that urban planning will influence the economic development, social structure and many other factors of the city. It also stimulates the local economy, provides numerous employment opportunities, promote local materials, restores and manages natural habitats, and provides environmental and cultural education opportunities.
