Design of waterfront space connection scheme of North Suzhou

This urban design innovatively introduces the concept of "shared streets", opening up the original breakpoints of the riverside space on North Suzhou Road and realizing the full connection of the riverside space. Under the current conditions of wide changes in the road width of North Suzhou Road, undulating road surface, and large height difference between the pedestrian plank road and the road surface, the road surface of North Suzhou Road was comprehensively sorted and re-arranged. Use the new model of "shared street + viewing platform + riverside promenade". The whole space is divided into Shanghai Building Vigor Garden Section, Bellagio Hotel Recreation View Section, Post Building Style Exhibition Section, and Riverside Building Characteristic Section. The overall planning structure of "one bank and four sections" is formed. Under the current problems of many spatial breakpoints on North Suzhou Road, narrow pedestrian walkways, large pavement height differences, no water in the riverside, and dirty environment, the pavement of North Suzhou Road was comprehensively sorted and re-arranged. The original pavement organization model of "sidewalk + carriageway + riverside plank road and greening" has been changed to a new model of "slow space + shared street + viewing platform + riverside promenade", which greatly improves walkability and convenience. Reachability. At the same time, it puts forward targeted functional replacement suggestions and corresponding design schemes for buildings and spaces along the street. It is people-oriented, focusing on meeting the needs of citizens for sightseeing, viewing, and rest, creating accessible, interpretable, and experience service spaces, and further improving the overall environment , Showing regional characteristics. The riverfront space on North Suzhou Road was fully completed in December 2020 and opened to the outside world.
