Hesheng Pastoral Orient

The project is based on the five houses in dozens of bamboo forest-wrapped spaces on the whole Linpan in Western Sichuan, forming a coherent rural settlement, scattered like stars in the whole building area. The part displayed presently is only the demonstration area, which is the core part of this project.

As an exemplar of the rural complex of the whole project, the designer considered three directions in the design: First, the reasonable application of the Linpan in Western Sichuan. Second, set up the circulation and commercial formats based on local conditions. Third, put forward a concept of rural aesthetics. Through these three directions to determine the theme and atmosphere of the overall project, with the theme of urban-rural integration and hometown nostalgia, to create purity and peace outside the city center.

As the intelligence center of the overall project, "Hesheng Academy" is a very interesting nested building, which has a complete old house wrapped in a modern building surface. In the specific construction, the designer chose the red brick as the main material, and the old house as the benchmark in the construction area, so that the old and new buildings can jointly set off the historical gravitas of Hesheng Academy in the inheritance of knowledge.

Inside, as the center of the public space, the atrium of the old house is designed with a high vertical space, which contains a large lecture hall and a bookstore and makes people feel that the academy is like the culture irritated by the atrium, full of heritage. This makes the atrium become the soul core of the whole building, which not only reflects the aesthetic perception of the traditional Chinese courtyard, but also heightens the unique knowledge precipitation of the academy and blends with each other.

For the top of the building, the light-transmitting skylight is selected to connect the interior and the external natural environment, through the change of natural light to create a free and open feeling in a closed space.
