The project is the experience center of an elderly care community. As one of the four ancient capitals of China, Nanjing has a profound history and culture, and features mixed urban built fabrics of the old and the new. The project is located in the Lishui District, which is renowned for beautiful landscapes as "Nanjing's Back Garden". Based on the positioning of the elderly care community and the site's existing natural setting and cultural context, the experience center draws on features of local ancient buildings, innovatively integrates the elements of ancient architectural beam and column structures into the design, and adopts hollowed-out partitions to create a suspended, fluid "painting" of the ancient city wall. The partitions are matched with aesthetic floral designs, which highlight ecological and metaphorical visual symbols. Spatial expressions such as superposition, interpenetration and fluidity infuse a historical and cultural touch into the space, evoke visitors' oriental naturalistic resonance and create interaction between objects and people, people and the space, hence offering visitors historical and artistic spatial experiences and triggering emotional engagement with the space.
According to the Population Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, China's elderly population will grow at a rate of more than 8 million a year. In the context of an aging society and growing demands for elderly care, ENJOY LIFE ETERNITY is the first and largest continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Nanjing, and has set a model for the immature elderly care industry in China. As the sales and experience center of this livable elderly care community, the project explores human scale-friendly and inclusive experiential scenes from the perspective of spatial design and branding strategy. It takes full account of the rationality of the design, aesthetic presentation, commercial aspects and interaction between people and the space, and meanwhile creates spatial narratives from the whole to details, functions to emotions.
