The project near an industrial zone, is the common area mapped out for the 260 units of residence in a community located in a suburb with convenient public transport. With young couple and their children as its target buyers, the design of this public space is characterized by parent-child interaction and workout as well as leisure.
To accentuate its leisurely vibe, the space is decorated with lush vegetation. Dark wooden grilles are applied to the wall behind the counter at the reception lobby, the turns in the stairway, and the ceiling in the gym and the kids’ playroom, exuding a sense of leisure that is elegant and open. As the lobby is vast and spacious, tiles of different color tones serve to define distinct sections. The floor in the lobby is paved with tiles of three colors in different shades that zigzag and intertwine like a woven checker carpet, showcasing a visual effect of magnificence and vastness. The lounge-sofa area, characterized by tiles with beige veins, is paved in great chunks of color, not only adding elegance and neatness to the section and looking relaxing, but also greatly lessening the difficulty of daily cleaning and maintenance.
Large French windows in the front and back of the lobby usher natural light in, which is further complemented by artificial illumination. The ceiling fitted with vertical low-reflective glass makes light bounce indoors. By virtue of the glass’s slightly reflectively nature, glare is largely reduced while adding a sense of stability to the space. Vegetation in the lobby is mirrored on the ceiling glass, thereby making the ceiling look higher. Even with the absence of a skylight and the sky, a visual effect of pushing up the ceiling is accomplished as if surrounded by flourishing vegetation reaching up.
This common area is designed with the needs of young couples. The entire space manifests the texture of a boutique resort while skewing a sense of remoteness due to excessive extravagance. Its design, characterized by simplicity, neatness and delicacy, shapes a pleasant laid-back vibe of vacation, making a comfort zone that feels like home.
