Taoyuan Guoqiang Kindergarten

Developing the concept based on the question of “what kind of environment is the best for children to grow in?”, the design’s main purpose is to create a diverse learning environment for kindergarten. Since Taoyuan is a district of diverse culture with beautiful nature, the arrangement and material use of the design are centered around nature. The designer wishes to teach children and interpret the importance of our environment by this building. On top of that, it is also designed according to the courses and the educational purposes of the kindergarten, helping children naturally game and play in the space. Eventually, a space like this can also improve the possibility to learn from having fun.



Taking neutral color as the background hue of the exterior, red, yellow and blue serve as the decorative palette. The colors used outside each symbolize love and passion, sunshine and joy, inspiration and wisdom, echoing with children’s energy and infinite imagination. The round-shaped playroom-library is surrounded by the glass panels, which contributes to a bigger view and brighter space. Due to the transparency, the wide view outside turns into a canvas painted by nature, changing along different seasons, boosting innovative thinking and diverse imagination. Different from the stereotypical education environment, the space can make children feel like playing when colorful lattices correspond to their vitality.



While the design of restrooms is mostly ignored, this time it is arranged especially between two activity classrooms. Instead of putting it somewhere at the faraway corner, where it takes a long time to arrive, or has no covering on the way, this design can shorten the distance to boost convenience and safety.



In addition, all the related equipment and installation are certificated with official water-saving labels, teaching children the concept of energy conservation since they are little.
