The inspiration for the DeAngelis chocolate brand and packaging came from its Italian roots. The branding needed to be refined, sophisticated yet delicate with hints of elegance very much like the chocolate itself. The textures the customer experiences when eating the chocolate were the inspiration for the packaging with its subtle yet tactile mixture of finishes.
DeAngelis wanted to launch their brand of hand-made Italian chocolate into the UK market and briefed us to create a new brand and luxury range of exclusive bespoke packaging for the high end chocolate market.
The cold pressed chocolate bars were individually wrapped in glassine paper and then finished with a hand tied black satin bow and high gloss finished flavour indicating tag. These bars were then packaged in singles, threes and fives within a rigid hand made card box covered in luxurious black Winter & Company Kashgar fabric paper. A white silk screen printed DeAngelis brand logo and a copper foiled blocked Pure Dark & Italian strapline, all elevated this brand for the high end exclusive market.
The idea behind this tactile packaging is that when opening the box the chocolate journey begins and as each layer is unveiled it takes you deeper into the luxurious experience of this very uniquely hand crafted product. As each layer is opened or unwrapped, the smell of the chocolate hits you as does the quality of the product.
