West Huashan Unipark is a 360m-long mall elongates at Jiang Jun Road, a prominent avenue in the upcoming north outskirt of Jinan. The site is surrounded by the rich natural landscapes of the Yellow River.

Inspired by "Autumn Colours on the Que and Hua Mountains", a famous Chinese painting from the Yuan Dynasty (1279–1368) which depicts the site’s beauty & colour in autumn. Design team extracted the silhouette of the Chinese mountain ranges and introduced it to the urban setting. By redefining the massing/roofline with the unique bronze concave shaped massing, this piece of contemporary architecture is well integrated with the surrounding natural scenery.

The design goes beyond traditional retail model, intertwining indoor-outdoor shopping experience with four fascinating public spaces inspired by natural landscape and phenomena. The main atrium ‘Forest’ is a central indoor social platform, staging the indoor event space to activate various floors. This triple volume space is filled with abundant daylight and vegetations for gathering and lounging. The cascading decks ‘Blossom’ is planted with colourful seasonal vegetation, allowing free movement and visual connection among floors, encouraging F&B activities to spill out to outdoor. In the sunken courtyard ‘Spring’, there are continuous water feature and landscape invite people to stay and interact with the nature. The sky garden ‘Cloud’ is a roof playscape with art installations, creating a joyful urban public space with various programs, such as kid space, outdoor gym and recreational space.

The lifestyle complex is positioned as an important gateway to the famous mountainous Huashan Scenic Area, which draws 2-3 million tourists every year. The project is set to be not only a tourist attraction, creating a landmark for the district, but also a community hub, providing series of social places to serve future office tenants, hotel guests and residents of the neighbourhood.
