Located in the prosperous area of Jianxi District, Luoyang City, the project stands at the intersection of Lianmeng Road and Qingdao Road, with convenient access to Metro Line 1. It is surrounded by popular commercial complexes including Wanda Wangfujing, rich educational and medical resources, and leisure facilities such as Mudan Square, with Luoyang’s modern urban resources readily available.

For the master planning design, the classical Chinese aesthetics of central symmetry is incorporated to create a landscape system of “three gardens on one axis”. Furthermore, the original landform is effectively exploited and buildings are master planned according to the elevation rising from the north to the south. The podiums are reserved for commercial purposes, saving excavation costs while maximally utilizing the area. Meanwhile, the separation of pedestrian and traffic flow is achieved and a high degree of privacy is ensured.

The commercial area draws on the original fabrics of the city. Through the refinement of historical elements, a neighborhood scene where the ancient mingles with the modern and traditions collide with new trends comes to life. The set-back and protruding forms of the commercial buildings avoid the monotony and add to l flexibility and vibrancy of the facade. The exterior is made from aluminum panels, glass and steel mesh, and the details are sculpted with fine craftsmanship.

The homecoming circulation refers to Luoyang’s cultural landmark Xiyuan Garden, aiming to create a ceremonial homecoming experience. The entrance lobby and the sunken courtyard are delicately crafted. Escalators connecting the sunken courtyard with the central garden visually stretch the spatial scale and create a scene of forest and fog.

The eaves of the architecture are modeled after the double eaves of Yingtian Gate of Luoyang, built in the Sui Dynasty. Contemporary aesthetics are integrated to produce the facade’s ancient charm and modern appearance.

Xiyuan Garden has always been the cultural emblem and artistic pinnacle of Luoyang. Based on this prototype, the project anchors the beginning of an era in this land full of urban charm.
