Garden Fairy

The ladybug in the public forest garden is the garden fairy that offers and guards the space for children to build their dreams. 75% of the area is covered by plants and the majority of them are native ones. The green area for children’s activities and the resting area are shrouded in more than 50 types of densely planted shrubs, perennial flower combinations and large trees, which become a shelter when the temperature in this area rises to 38°C in summer. The mosaic tiles were used to create the tadpoles and aquatic plants in the pond are displayed in the garden square. The sculpture of the ladybugs above the meadow represents the image of a small forest in the metropolitan area, which can be used by parents and children to observe the nature in closer distance. In order to provide the space for the outdoor leisure activities and sport and also for the safe commuting paths for nearby school children and residents, the street atmosphere in the surrounding pedestrian path was revitalized. Combining with the bicycle lanes, the commuter lanes next to the houses offer the chance to walk in the nature and form the urban low-carbon transportation network. This garden aims to promote the interaction between the residents and the natural landscape, create a healthy and lively living environment, and relieve the oppression brought by the heat island effect in this area.
