The Brasília shopping rooftop is a project based upon innovative solutions focused on delivering a qualitative experience to its users. We start from an atypical post-pandemic reality in which this project’s creative intervention on the site was of paramount importance. As this is a high standard shopping center located in a strategic region, close to hotels and office buildings, in the city of Brasília - Brazil. Such a matter made us focus on a universal problem: the need for experiences and open spaces for post-pandemic society. In the search for a joint solution to apparently different issues, we arrived at the Brasilia rooftop project. It is, at the same time, a way to use the idle space of the mall's coverage, in order to create an opportunity to increase retail operations and common areas for the customer, and a gift to the community of being able to enjoy a new space of integration with nature. To that end, we used technology to build a retractable roof. Such integration with nature would not be complete without a judicious use of ecologically correct practices, such as self-irrigating gardens, use of recycled materials and attention to waste reduction practices. We worked while concerned about the automation to control the ambient lighting. Our goal was offering a solution to light pollution. Thus, we make use of lighting control systems which, at strategic moments, allow the turning off of the light poles for a better view of the night sky. We make use of the control of luminous luxury and the alternation of the color temperature of the light, ranging from 3000k to 2700k, as well as the application of an RGBW led lighting system. The space has two restaurants, a bar and an events space. As a result, we expanded the total operation by 33%. Society gains a suspended garden which embodies the values of both Brazilian and International Modernist movements, as it realizes the concept of the city-park, one of the main pillars of Brasília's urban identity.
