Adhering to the idea of long-termism, this interior design work eliminates or simplifies unnecessary decorations to realize a minimalist, modern style that gracefully embraces the test of time, ensuring the space develops more unique charm as years pass.
The overall project mainly utilizes calm gray, supplemented with low-saturation colors like white, black, and brown, which leads to a peaceful, rational atmosphere. This classic color scheme aligns perfectly with the modern design idea of long-termism. Besides, durable rough materials such as gravel, wood, and rock slabs are widely adopted. As they naturally age and wear, richer textures and unique qualities will appear, telling stories of time’s passage. In sharp contrast to these rough, hard furnishings, most furniture is made of soft materials, whereby to strike a balance between natural beauty and modern design.
Notably, the basement is divided through artistic suspended steel plates and floor-to-ceiling curtains featuring a good drape, which creates a mysterious and comfortable resting area for occupants to relax and de-stress. Meanwhile, the vertical fabric curtains offer more flexibility than traditional partition walls, and can guide the gaze to extend upwards, adding a sense of visual extension and making the enclosed space more spacious visually.
The project generally avoids central lighting, instead using exquisite table lamps, pendant lights, and hallway fixtures to create a warmer, softer home atmosphere, reflecting silent care for occupants.
