Asanagi

The project is named "Asanagi," which is a Japanese term referring to the calm state of a lake or sea in the early morning without wind. The design team aims to create a serene and tranquil atmosphere, reminiscent of this windless state. To achieve the cleanest and most unadorned appearance, the colors and materials are kept minimalistic and pure, reducing excessive decorative elements to present a simple and streamlined space.

In this project, a central island is placed between the kitchen and the living room, making it the focal point of the space. This effectively separates the kitchen, dining area, and living room. The open layout ensures that the overall space does not feel oppressive despite the separation.

The TV wall extends all the way to the entrance, giving it a continuous and spacious feel. It also incorporates hidden room doors, keeping the overall facade simple and cohesive. By aligning the TV wall, entrance storage cabinets, and the master bedroom door on the same plane, unnecessary pathways are minimized, enhancing the overall flow of the space.

The interior has numerous large structural beams that create a sense of oppression. Therefore, the ceiling design is kept smooth and simple, using arcs and rounded corners to conceal the beams within the ceiling structure, making the beams feel non-existent.

To achieve the envisioned tranquility, the materials used include Italian natural mineral paint paired with light wood grain. The rustic paint texture creates a serene atmosphere, complemented by metallic accents and reflective glass materials, resembling the faint morning sunlight reflecting on the lake surface.
