The Fuzhou Yongxiwan is conceived as a contemporary cultural dialogue between East and West, transforming a traditional real estate sales space into a refined experiential environment rooted in local identity.
Inspired by Fuzhou’s history as one of China’s earliest treaty ports, the design interprets the city’s spirit of openness, commerce, and cultural exchange through a modern spatial language. French classical geometry—expressed through axial order, arches, and proportional balance—forms the structural framework, while Eastern aesthetics such as spatial meandering, poetic blankness, and the interplay of solidity and void are subtly woven into the experience. This synthesis creates a nuanced “interstitial aesthetic” that transcends stylistic boundaries.
Soft furnishing plays a central narrative role. The iris flower, symbolizing elegance and continuity, becomes a recurring motif across furniture detailing, art installations, and material selections. Champagne-toned metals, natural stone, fiber art, and handcrafted elements are carefully curated to evoke both French refinement and the warmth of Fuzhou’s regional culture. Local intangible heritage—including lacquerware, cork painting, tea culture, and traditional craftsmanship—is reinterpreted through contemporary display and spatial storytelling, allowing visitors to engage with cultural memory in a tactile and immersive way.
The spatial sequence unfolds from a ceremonial community lobby to art corridors, negotiation areas, tea rooms, and reading lounges, each zone offering a distinct atmosphere while maintaining a coherent design language. Art installations and curated collections guide movement and emotion, transforming circulation into a cultural journey rather than a purely functional path.
By integrating cultural symbolism, refined materiality, and modern design principles, the project elevates the sales gallery into a timeless urban salon—one that reflects Fuzhou’s historical depth, global outlook, and evolving lifestyle aspirations.
