The design of this library centers around the core concept of "Shennong Academy" and integrates landmark, cultural, ecological, and sustainability elements. Combining Zhuzhou's natural landscapes, industrial history, and modern reading needs, the library is envisioned as a future cultural hub where citizens are encouraged to linger, foster creativity, and engage in innovation. The design emphasizes a "people-oriented, reader-first" approach, creating an urban cultural living room.
The entrance lobby takes inspiration from the meandering Xiang River. Curved ceiling shapes and a spiral staircase echo the river’s flow, while industrial materials like metal and artificial stone reflect Zhuzhou’s identity as an industrial hub. This sets a cultural prelude for the library, welcoming readers into a space of knowledge.
The Children's Library explores the connection between technology and imagination. Inspired by Zhuzhou's locomotive industry, the space features reading areas designed as "planets" with elements such as reading capsules and mirrored ceilings, encouraging children to explore the universe within books.
On the fourth floor, public spaces embrace the cultural essence of Zhuzhou, blending the symbolism of the "Rose" city flower and the Xiang River. Rose-patterned panels and furniture in petal colors create a warm atmosphere, while the lounge’s shimmering river wall and wooden steps evoke a tranquil, river-inspired setting.
The ancient books area captures the elegance of traditional Chinese architecture with bamboo decor and Ming-style furniture. A serene environment for self-cultivation, this space connects readers with the heritage of classical culture.
This design harmonizes functionality, regional characteristics, and aesthetics. It bridges the industrial context of Zhuzhou with the humanistic spirit of "Shennong Culture," transforming the library into a place where knowledge, history, and future possibilities converge. It is a cultural treasure trove and a community space, infusing vitality into the city.
