With culture at its core, ecology as its foundation, and user experience as its objective, the Lushan Scenic Area Night Lighting Project delivers a mountain cultural tourism lighting work that balances design aesthetics and functionality. During the design phase, in-depth research was conducted on Lushan’s poetic, religious, and geological heritage — the poetic sentiment of “I can’t tell the true face of Lushan Mountain, because I am in the mountain” was integrated into the lighting and shadow design. Historical allusions are projected onto building facades via 3D Mapping technology, while warm-toned lighting accentuates the rustic charm of historic structures, achieving a harmonious symbiosis of culture and light. Drawing on a comprehensive on-site survey, multiple viewing angles were scientifically designed: adjustable spotlights on observation platforms precisely outline mountain textures, and low-glare pedestrian lights balance traffic convenience and commercial visual effects to maximize viewing comfort across the entire site. An eco-friendly design approach was adopted, utilizing high-efficiency energy-saving LED luminaires paired with an intelligent control system to dynamically adjust light brightness and color. Strict controls on projection ranges prevent light pollution, supporting low-carbon practices while preserving the scenic area’s dark-sky ecology and wildlife habitats, and reflecting the humanistic and ecological implications of the design.
