The “Shipyard 1914” Hall A emerges as Guangzhou’s first XR immersive gallery centered on Apple Vision Pro. Here, renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma’s “negative building” philosophy converges with digital civilization, while Pearl River culture intertwines with maritime heritage. This synthesis elevates “1914” from a mere year to a spiritual source, allowing history to breathe within a minimalist, cutting-edge space.
Redefining heritage regeneration, the project eschews large-scale demolition for “light intervention,” preserving the original texture of the interior corridor with river views and the overhead industrial components. Through structural reinforcement and open planning, the century-old space transforms into a colossal vessel traversing time. Technology dissolves physical boundaries: leveraging 5G edge computing and high-precision spatial positioning, virtual imagery aligns with reality in zero latency. A dedicated local network ensures seamless multi-device concurrency, enabling visitors to traverse turbulent wartime eras or step into a suspended future city—achieving a boundless virtual-real fusion.
Narratively, the project constructs a four-chapter “Ship Wonder” journey from emotional resonance to active co-creation. It begins with “Setting Sail,” utilizing multimedia storytelling and AR interaction to trace ship evolution and establish a cognitive framework of maritime civilization. The journey transitions into “War and Symbiosis,” using digital restoration to recreate resilience amidst chaos, deepening historical empathy. The climax, “Rise and Rebirth,” employs art installations that contrast the old and new plots, creating surreal visual effects to interpret the magnificent transformation of an industrial site into a future-ready space. The finale, “Wonderful Future,” breaks the barrier of spectatorship through AI and somatosensory interaction. Visitors become co-creators of future scenarios, making every visit a unique moment of spiritual co-creation.
Behind these immersive experiences lies a commitment to safety, sustainability, technology, and aesthetics. High-performance foamed ceramics precisely replicate the textures of ship hulls and waves, accommodating complex double-curved designs while strictly meeting fire safety standards. Meanwhile, low-energy LED chip curtain walls and eco-friendly flooring balance visual impact with wellness and environmental stewardship. This rigorous attention to material use transforms a cold industrial relic into a sustainable, meaningful hub where the past and the future coexist in harmony.
