The Perfect Human Being is a collection that criticizes the behavior of attempting to mold others according to a person’s liking. It is inspired by ball jointed dolls and the designer’s fashion taste growing up. The collection molds the wearer into a movable doll that shuffles around mechanically, without concerning the natural movement a person has. This is served as an irony of the Sisyphean attempt of trying to make someone a person they are not.
This collection is inspired by the aesthetics of vintage dolls, mainly ball-jointed dolls but elements of others such as fashion dolls and automata were also considered, to create an over-the-top, emotional, intricate, delicate yet somewhat eerie and suffocating feeling. The collection is built up as if one builds up a doll, from the structure, to the body, then the decor. Elements are taken from these aspects and used upon parts of the collection. The designer experimented on thermoplastic, a material that is moldable under heat, to mimic the process of doll-making by creating corset-like "molds" made mainly out of this material. Each garment has a solid "mold" made out of thermal plastic that mimics the doll figure that comes from the molding process during the making of ball jointed dolls, where a doll is made hollow by having a core of separate material upon which clay is built and shaped, emphasizing the suffocating nature of forcefully shaping someone against their will. Other imitations of dolls include an elastic strung mobile mechanical structure on one look, making the dress mobile according to the wearer's movement. The designer also designed a pair of electronic gear wheel that moves parts of the garment, similar to a pendulum. It is then realized with help from Turbulence Creative, an art-specializing tech consulting agency. This is inspired by the mobility of ball jointed dolls and automata. To achieve a fantastical yet slightly unnerving atmosphere, A pastel palette and intricate trims are well organized and heavily layered on top of one another to create glamorous yet heavy looks.
