About The Entry

The incense box combines historical depth, emotional comfort, and practical functionality. Inspired by ancient Chinese food boxes, it reimagines a container once meant for food as one that nurtures the spirit.

The incense box adopts a two-tiered structure: the upper tier serves as the burning chamber, featuring vertically arranged air vents that ensure steady airflow and stable combustion; the lower tier functions as the storage chamber, allowing incense to be neatly kept and easily accessed. Its tiered form conveys a rhythmic sense of upward progression. Together with the cloud-shaped lid knob, it symbolizes the auspicious wish of “achieving steady growth and soaring achievement.” At the eaves of the incense box, inlaid brass depicts the Big Dipper constellation, evoking the immensity of the cosmos and history, while embodying the Chinese ideal of harmony between heaven and humanity and the poetic aspiration to “reach for the stars.” The incense box is primarily crafted from reddish-brown wood, giving it a warm, natural look. The lower tier is finished in a deep green, creating a clear visual distinction between functional zones while adding an elegant, sophisticated touch. The combination of the wooden body with a metal handle creates a harmonious dialogue between tradition and modernity, retaining the ritual grace of a traditional carrying box while seamlessly fitting into the aesthetic of contemporary homes.

The incense box lowers the barriers of traditional incense rituals, allowing busy modern people to experience an elegant traditional lifestyle in a simple and natural way. It also serves as a cultural companion that soothes the body and mind in today’s fast-paced life.
