About The Entry

Nestled in the verdant embrace of Qingdao’s Laoshan Mountain, Lao Kuang Zunpu Tea Garden redefines the harmony between tea culture and ecological preservation. Eschewing ornate embellishments, the design embraces a modern minimalist aesthetic, seamlessly weaving the elegance of Laoshan tea with the rich textures of architecture, creating an immersive stage for tea-centered living.

The white facade is defined by sleek, geometric lines, while expansive glass acts as a transparent canvas, drawing the undulating mountain ridges into the interior. This fosters a seamless dialogue: “Architecture merges with the landscape, and the landscape flows into the architecture.” A turquoise staircase on the outdoor terrace punctuates the muted color palette with a vibrant stroke, infusing the tea tourism space with a sense of lively energy.

The project unfolds a three-dimensional narrative of tea experiences. On the first floor, the reception area initiates a ritual of encounter: a minimalist tea table and neatly arranged tea products let guests sense the quiet spirit of tea even before crossing the threshold. The open-concept tea-frying workshop lays bare the craftsmanship, rendering the intricate art of tea processing vividly tangible. The second-floor guest rooms prioritize serenity, with soft gray and warm wood tones cultivating a restful atmosphere, complete with exquisite tea sets for private enjoyment. The third floor marks the crescendo of the tea journey: the shared tea room features a soaring wooden-beamed ceiling and expansive glazing, where sunlight spills over tea mats and the distant mountain panorama becomes a tranquil backdrop for savoring tea. The outdoor leisure platform extends the boundaries of the tea space, embodying the poetic pursuit of “finding a moment of calm amid life’s hustle.”

Material choices embody the philosophy of eco-primitivism. The natural grain of wood and the rugged texture of stone, paired with clean, uncluttered lines, echo Laoshan’s topography while underscoring the refined restraint of tea culture. Within this minimalist setting, guests shed the clamor of the outside world, sinking deeper into the quiet charm of tea and the unspoiled beauty of nature.
