Linglong Moudai

Rooted in the spirit of Song Dynasty aesthetics, this project blends the concept of “returning to simplicity” with the comfort of modern living. By deconstructing the era’s pursuit of elegance, the design focuses on simple geometry, muted tones, and authentic textures, creating a dialogue across time and allowing residents to experience a poetic lifestyle infused with traditional charm.

The entryway draws inspiration from the classical art of hanging scrolls. Through clever visual framing, it layers artistic installations with spatial depth, evoking a rich, painterly ambiance that seamlessly introduces cultural heritage upon entering. The glass-enclosed vertical space features curated greenery, crafting a Zen landscape that is uncluttered yet soulful. Here, the interplay between organic plant forms and architectural lines interprets the Eastern wisdom of minimalism. Echoing the Song traditions of tea tasting and appreciation, the tea lounge features wooden display shelves for teaware and curios, paired with a wooden table and understated seating to recreate the atmosphere of a refined gathering. In the dining area, a built-in aquarium replaces conventional decoration, infusing the serene space with dynamic life. The bedroom evokes the ancient concept of mental wandering, where an ink-wash landscape mural serves as the backdrop wall, infusing daily rest with poetic charm.

With Song aesthetics as its foundation and a sense of ritual as its soul, this home serves as a spiritual retreat far from urban noise. It transforms historical beauty into a tangible lifestyle, offering Zen tranquility and unhurried grace.
