About The Entry
This project centers on the core values of love, inclusivity, and self-identity, expressed through the integration of light art and architectural language to create an immersive public experience for the LGBTQ+ community.
The Kaohsiung Music Center, an iconic landmark in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, was selected as the creative canvas. Designed collaboratively by Spanish architect Manuel Monteserín’s team and Taiwanese partners, its distinctive honeycomb geometry symbolizes diversity, connectivity, and coexistence—values that closely resonate with those advocated by the LGBTQ+ community.
Using rainbow light as the primary visual language, the design projects colors representing equality and freedom onto the building’s façade. Combined with stage lighting, dynamic programming, and spatial rhythm, the entire venue transforms at night into a vibrant field of flowing energy and music. Beams of light extend outward from the stage, symbolizing courage, confidence, and the power of being understood—while also conveying that every individual deserves to be seen.
This is not merely a visual design for an event, but a public dialogue on social inclusivity. Through the integration of large-scale urban architecture, light art, and music, the project seeks to challenge conventional perceptions of gender and identity, allowing people to embrace their true selves without fear of judgment.
In this harbor city, light is more than illumination—it is an attitude. The rainbow is more than color—it is a belief in freedom and love.
