About The Entry

LIUSHA

Named after the Ba Bai Liu Sha — a 400-kilometer ultramarathon across the Gobi Desert — the name itself is drawn from the Tang Dynasty monk Xuanzang's account in the Great Tang Records on the Western Regions: "For eight hundred li, there is no bird in the sky, no beast on the ground, no water, no grass." What he crossed was not just desert, but the boundary of human endurance. LIUSHA is eyewear built for that same boundary.

The design features an angular frame architecture that wraps around a round shield lens. The sharply defined lines at each side of the frame give it a distinct, sculpted presence — both structural and pure in form. The round shield lens delivers an expansive, uninterrupted field of view, shedding the visual bulk of a full-frame design and allowing the gaze to move freely across the terrain.

LIUSHA is built on VERYALEN's proprietary five-dimension Runner's Native Vision System (RUNNOVIS) — lens curvature, temple angle, and frame balance are calibrated specifically for the upright posture and level gaze of the runner. It is not a cycling design adapted for running.

The lens features HyperSensitive sports optics — a photochromic lens tuned specifically for trail environments. Contrast is enhanced across mud, rock, and root, making terrain texture "lift" from the ground — so runners read the trail faster and react with confidence.

The palette is drawn from the Gobi itself — matte black like basalt under a night sky, sand-blasted moss green like resilient lichen on the desert floor, sand-blasted mauve like the last light fading across the dunes, sand-blasted glacier green like the hidden crevasses of distant snow mountains. Every tone belongs to the desert. Restrained but never weak. Quiet, but with presence. Not loud, but strong.

The silhouette is clean. The weight is minimal. The design steps back, so the trail steps forward.
