About The Entry
This jewelry collection is inspired by “Joy on the Plum Branch”
, a
traditional auspicious motif commonly found in the jian nian mosaic art decorating the ridges
of Taiwanese temples. The design reinterprets this cultural symbol through contemporary
jewelry, combining blooming plum blossoms, magpies, and flowing branches to express
blessings, joy, and the continuity of life.
In East Asian culture, the plum blossom symbolizes resilience, hope, and renewal, while the
magpie is regarded as a messenger of happiness and good fortune. Together, they form the
imagery of “Joy on the Plum Branch,
” representing the arrival of good news and life’s
cherished moments. This project further incorporates the cultural significance of Zhusheng
Niangniang, the Goddess of Fertility and Childbirth, whose blessings are associated with
new life and family prosperity. Through this connection, the collection celebrates the joy of
welcoming a child and the enduring bond between family, hope, and future generations.
Soft, flowing metal lines mimic the natural growth of branches, while red and white plum
blossoms create a sense of warmth and vitality. Magpies in motion add lightness and
movement, transforming each piece into more than an ornament—it becomes a wearable
expression of blessing and cultural memory.
By translating traditional temple imagery into contemporary jewelry, the collection seeks to
preserve Taiwanese cultural heritage while conveying universal themes of happiness, love,
renewal, and the celebration of new life.
