Longhu Waterfront, Bozhou

The project redefines residential landscape in Bozhou through a renewed spatial system rooted in Eastern design philosophy. It establishes a layered community structure composed of “One Axis, One Scroll, Two Rings, Six Courtyards, and Seven Gardens,” forming a continuous landscape framework that integrates living, movement, and cultural memory.

Rather than reproducing historical imagery, the design reinterprets Bozhou’s millennia-old urban texture—its courtyard logic, street patterns, and flowing water systems—into a contemporary spatial language. Cultural memory is transformed into a sequence of lived experiences, making the landscape perceivable, walkable, and inhabitable.

The design articulates a series of poetic spatial conditions, including courtyard light and water compositions, stone-washing and water-edge sequences, and river-view courtyards. These scenes collectively construct a refined residential environment where nature and everyday life are seamlessly intertwined, expressing an understated Eastern aesthetic.

A central organizing element is the approximately 160-meter-long axis, which structures six interconnected landscape zones. Through rhythmic progression and spatial alternation, it creates a continuous experiential journey—from an open and welcoming entrance space, through shaded and layered corridors, and ultimately into intimate private courtyards. Movement through the site becomes a process of unfolding scenery.

The design embeds cultural narrative within everyday spatial scale, expressing richness through restraint and emotion through clarity. Elegance is not concentrated but distributed throughout the landscape, forming a contemporary interpretation of Bozhou’s cultural identity and Eastern residential living.
