About The Entry
The project takes the “Tide” as its core metaphor, translating Shanghai’s temporal rhythm into a spatial language. The design unfolds through three phases—Surge, Circulation and Ebb. Through layered light, permeable interfaces, and interwoven circulation, the space creates a gradual and fluid experience, where materials quietly register the passage of time.
Drawing from the Haipai ethos of interweaving and renewal, the design employs semi-transparent interfaces and structures to translate the spatial ambience found in Shanghai’s urban fabric. Anchored in MUJI’s simplicity in spatial design, allowing the space to evolve through daily use—settling, adapting, and responding to the city and time like the tide.
