The Creamy Archway

Located in the historic military district of Feng Shan, Kaohsiung, this renovation project transforms a 14-year-old apartment into a "creamy-style" sanctuary for a family of four and their three feline companions. The design journey began with the concept of "The Cave"—a metaphor for protection, healing, and the return to one’s childhood roots.

The original layout was hampered by a dark, enclosed kitchen and a lack of flow. By demolishing the partition walls, the kitchen was reimagined as a "framed painting" within the home. A strategic diagonal entrance was designed to navigate around fixed electrical panels, creating a sense of boundary without isolation. This open-plan approach allows the children to run freely and the light to penetrate deep into the living spaces, significantly expanding the visual scale of the 33-ping interior.

Aesthetic harmony is achieved through a soft, warm palette using "Dream" mineral paint, which provides a natural, breathable texture. To accommodate a high-energy household, every corner is meticulously rounded. These "arch-cave" transitions create a sense of enclosure and safety, softening the structural lines of the building. The master suite reflects the family’s current lifestyle, featuring a custom-elevated platform to accommodate a shared sleeping arrangement between the mother and children, integrated with a spacious walk-in closet for the fashion-conscious homeowner.

This project is a delicate balance between a "web-famous" coffee-shop aesthetic and the practical demands of a bustling home. It provides a dedicated studio for remote work and a high-performance smoking room equipped with advanced air filtration to suit the couple's habits. By merging childhood nostalgia with modern comfort, the design offers a therapeutic environment where the family can grow, play, and find peace.
