Just Ahead — My Hakka, Nestled Among Mountains and Rivers

Time is contemporary. So is culture.

My Hakka, nestled among mountains and rivers, is the rhythm of Liudui people in Pingtung living in the present day — a rhythm that exists between the fields and the villages, within the pulse of language and the strokes of literary writing.

In southern Taiwan, the Hakka people have always carried a quiet, distinctive character — silently inscribing chapters of land and memory. From the gentle curves of mountain ranges and the murmuring of streams, to the figures walking through old streets, the persistence and tenderness of the Hakka spirit are ever-present.

This exhibition centers on the triad of Literature × Landscape × Life. Drawing from the works of Hakka writers from Pingtung County, it traces a path that moves from written words into landscape, and back again into everyday life. Here, we witness how literature gives voice to the land, and how life echoes back through history. The Hakka people of the south have crossed from the past into the twenty-first century on their own terms — modern yet traditional, steadfast yet free.
