About The Entry
This project focuses on the theme of "shore" and aims to revitalize and transform the Lai Chi Wan Shipyard area in Coloane, Macau, driven by industry, protect Macau's shipbuilding cultural heritage, preserve collective memory, and solve the problems of low attractiveness, short stay time, and low utilization rate in the region. This project integrates heritage conservation, cultural tourism revitalization, and digital interaction strategies to provide experiential, stopover, and consumption oriented coastal cultural spaces for residents and tourists, ultimately achieving a balance between cultural heritage, urban renewal, and economic revitalization.
It fully considers the ergonomics of coastal public spaces, planning trapezoidal stands, sea view corridors, and accessible pathways to improve comfort and accessibility. The spatial layout is simple and clear, with straight lines. The clear hierarchy between the entrance, public areas, experience areas, and scenic spots facilitates tourists' adaptation to the flow. Create highly interactive experiences through AR/VR virtual interaction, holographic projection, and historical timelines, allowing users to actively participate and immerse themselves in the cultural connotations of shipbuilding.
This project will transform the old factory into a composite space for exhibitions, cultural and creative activities, workshops, restaurants, dormitories, and more. Not only does it protect industrial heritage and shipbuilding technology, but it also improves the waterfront environment, creates employment and public spaces, extends stay time, and realizes various cultural, social, and economic values.
