About The Entry

This project occupies a prime spot in Xi’an, nestled between iconic heritage landmarks and surrounded by high-end retail destinations. Given this unique intersection of ancient history and modern luxury, the interior design rejects the cliché of relying on overly ornate, nostalgic motifs. Instead, it embraces a restrained, modern Tang-dynasty aesthetic, weaving together the textures of ancient brick and the poetic glow of traditional festive lanterns into the modern DNA of the Hampton brand. This is not merely a hotel; it is a space where the city’s heritage comes alive.

The guest journey is intentionally choreographed to echo the ancient rhythm of “passing through the courtyards, wandering the lanes, arriving at the grand hall, and retreating to rest.” This sequence begins in the lobby, which boasts a soaring triple-height space. Below, the lounge uses a cleverly designed landscape terrace to carve out an intimate area within the open layout. The walls subtly blend iconic city silhouettes and ancient city wall motifs, inviting highly Instagrammable moments steeped in authentic local aesthetics. As guests wander the lanes, the public areas recreate the lively hustle of the ancient East and West Markets. In the private sanctuary of the guest rooms, the design stays true to Hampton’s core promise of pure comfort while quietly unfolding the city’s heritage through custom art walls.

The core value of this project lies in its adaptive reuse. Respecting the original structure, the project adopts a highly precise, targeted renovation instead of a complete demolition, using cultural elements to breathe new life into the dated hotel. On the construction side, modular customization and industrialized processes keep on-site waste and rework costs to an absolute minimum. This strategic approach creates a highly efficient model: a five-star luxury experience is delivered at a three-star renovation cost and a four-star price point. It perfectly balances aesthetic appeal, sustainability, and budget, setting a new benchmark for commercial viability in revitalizing mid-to-high-end hotels.
