Guo Song Tian Qing

Located in Jinan, where Mount Tai rises to the south and the Yellow River flows to the north, the project is deeply rooted in the city's distinctive mountain-and-water landscape. Inspired by the northern landscape composition of the Song Dynasty masterpiece Autumn Colors of Rivers and Mountains, the design reinterprets the spatial principles of classical shanshui painting—concealing mountains, embracing water, and balancing solid and void—within a contemporary residential courtyard, creating a layered living environment that evokes the poetic experience of wandering through a landscape.

Further inspired by the refined elegance and auspicious symbolism of the Northern Song painting Auspicious Cranes, the project integrates the grandeur of layered mountains with the graceful presence of soaring cranes. Song Dynasty aesthetics are reinterpreted through materiality, architectural form, spatial sequencing, and everyday living experiences, allowing cultural heritage to be expressed as an immersive spatial language rather than decorative symbolism.
