Cummins Beijing Headquarters redefines the role of industrial heritage in a contemporary workplace. Conceived as "THE L.I.V.E. ENGINE", an engine for connection and growth, this project translates the operating logic of an engine into the "origin of power" for the entire spatial narrative, establishing a sustainable work ecosystem rooted in industrial DNA.

Rather than enclosed in a conventional display case, this project positions the first-generation engine at the main entrance, integrating it through a unified interplay of lighting, circulation, and scale—transforming its mechanical texture into a public-space aesthetic. Reclaimed mechanical components are further transformed into an exploded-view art installation, turning the precision of industrial engineering into a legible spatial language.

The spatial aesthetic draws directly from the company's industrial history and discarded materials—decorative lights, floors, and furniture recycled from the original office. Wheat-straw boards, recycled ceramics, low-value timber composites, and coffee-ground-based recycled materials are transformed into installations, finishes, and 3D-printed signage, making material circularity a visible part of the brand narrative.

Environmental sensors monitor data on temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, lighting, and energy consumption in real time, enabling dynamic adjustment of fresh air, HVAC, and lighting systems. An IoT dashboard visualises environmental and energy data. Furthermore, the fully modular, demountable layout adapts to organisational evolution with less demolition and material waste, fostering an innovative symbiosis between industrial legacy, circular materials, and the contemporary workplace.
