JIUYUE MANSION

Drawing inspiration from the Eastern philosophy found in Zhuangzi’s *Free and Easy Wandering*—and centering on the concept of "wandering freely in spirit"—the design deconstructs three spiritual realms of living and reshapes the atmosphere of contemporary estate-garden life. It traces the wisdom of the ancients regarding one's engagement with the world, balancing the relationships between the individual and society, nature, and the self. By adopting the formal, ceremonial layout of traditional official estates, the design establishes an orderly spatial structure that shuts out worldly clamor, imbuing the living environment with a sense of dignified, elegant ritual. Guided by the principles of "following the Way of nature" and the "unity of heaven and humanity," the design uses nature as its foundation and respects the site’s inherent texture; architecture blends seamlessly with the landscape of mountains, waters, and greenery, restoring an authentic, nature-aligned way of dwelling. Simultaneously, the design focuses on the human spirit, creating garden spaces that feel relaxed and open—free from external constraints—to offer residents a lifestyle of boundless freedom and ease. Through natural landscaping that fosters inner cultivation, the garden creates a secluded, elegant sanctuary amidst the bustling city center, realizing an elevated ideal of living: a return to the heart through ceremonial order, a return to nature through the environment, and a return to one's true self through freedom.
