About The Entry

voco Xiamen SM City is located in the heart of Xiamen's central business district and centers on a concept that blends Nanyang heritage with city‑center living. It weaves together four local cultural strands: Minnan arcade‑style buildings, traditional Minnan mansions, harbor culture, and the Maritime Silk Road. With VOCO's signature thoughtful, unstuffy, and charming lifestyle spirit, together with a sustainable construction philosophy, it creates an urban upscale lifestyle space that combines human-centric warmth with a sustainable expression.

It makes innovative use of compact planning strategies typical of mixed-use complexes, opening up dual-directional spatial circulation, and, through vertical zoning, achieves clear public‑private zoning:

The lower public area (floors 1 to 5) hosts a variety of social spaces—the lobby extends the arcade-style form, establishing an all-day open social hub with a day-to-night F&B (food and beverage) availability; The all-day dining restaurant adopts a harbor market theme, with an egret art installation and a fishing‑net canopy evoking the vibrant spirit of the waterfront; The wellness area uses wave-like curved lines to create a resort-like ambiance, while incorporating a family-friendly space to cater to guests of all ages; The ballroom merges arches with a modern dome, imbuing the space with a sense of business ceremony; The upper guest room area (floors 7 to 18) features a modular flexible layout, using a muted palette to temper the urban bustle, while balancing a sense of place with a restful guest experience.

Guided by the philosophy of human‑nature symbiosis, the hotel takes advantage of Xiamen's subtropical climate and frames expansive views toward Xianyue Mountain. It also incorporates architectural shading, daylighting, and indoor greenery to optimize the microclimate, and designs acoustic zoning to mitigate commercial noise. It applies Low‑E glass, low‑VOC finishes, and recycled‑PET bedding as sustainable materials throughout the property, and integrates smart guestroom controls, energy recovery ventilation, and water‑efficient fixtures to ensure a high‑quality stay experience while effectively lowering operational carbon emissions—offering a compelling model for high‑end hotel localization and green building practice.
