About The Entry
Inspired by the interplay of ink and water and the fluidity of stone, Poly Hexu Residential Space translates the essence of traditional Chinese ink-wash aesthetics into a contemporary residential language. The design embraces minimalist forms, fluid spatial relationships, and refined material contrasts to create a home that feels calm, comfortable, and adaptable to modern lifestyles.
The spatial planning challenges the rigid boundaries of conventional residential layouts. Rather than defining living, dining, and other areas through fixed partitions, the design establishes a continuous spatial sequence that organically connects different functional zones. Visual and physical boundaries are softened, allowing spaces to expand, overlap, and transform according to residents’ changing needs. This approach not only enhances the perceived sense of spaciousness but also increases the flexibility and possibilities of everyday living.
Material and form work together to create a distinctive visual narrative. Black-and-white sintered stone, flexible stone, and geometric elements are layered and interwoven throughout the interior, generating a sense of continuous movement. Their flowing transitions evoke the way ink disperses and extends across traditional Chinese painting, creating depth, rhythm, and visual breathing space. Through this contemporary interpretation, the cultural spirit of Chinese ink-wash art is naturally integrated into a modern residential environment.
Sustainability is embedded in the material selection and manufacturing strategy. Cabinetry incorporates engineered boards made primarily from bamboo, combined with advanced manufacturing techniques that reduce adhesive consumption and help minimize the release of harmful substances. Stainless steel and stone are also extensively applied as durable materials, reducing dependence on conventional formaldehyde-emitting components while improving longevity and reducing the need for frequent replacement.
By integrating fluid spatial planning, contemporary material innovation, Chinese cultural expression, and responsible material choices, Poly Hexu transforms the home from a collection of functional zones into a continuous living experience—one that is serene yet dynamic, minimalist yet expressive, and designed to evolve naturally with its residents.
