About The Entry

QIVIKA translates the precision of professional optical instruments into a lightweight, approachable consumer-electronics format for everyday exploration. Inspired by the structural precision of optical equipment, the spatial logic of a periscope optical path, and the simplicity of modern consumer electronics, the design brings these qualities into one coherent product language. Guided by a function-as-form approach, the exterior follows the internal structure without unnecessary ornament, retaining the precision of professional optics while presenting a lighter, simpler, and more approachable product character.

The periscope optical path folds the long-range optical system sideways, allowing QIVIKA to accommodate up to a 3000 mm equivalent focal length within a compact 79 × 213.5 × 56 mm body weighing about 300 g. The exterior follows this internal optical route, translating the precision of professional optics into a compact consumer-electronics form. A bead-blasted anodised aluminium shell establishes a unified low-gloss silver-grey body, reducing the visual weight typically associated with long-range optical instruments. Black self-coloured plastic is concentrated around operating and optical connection zones, using material and tonal contrast to make functional areas immediately legible. Subtle metal textures reinforce mechanical precision without relying on decorative detailing, while the clear division between the main body and functional modules gives the product a restrained and purposeful visual hierarchy.

After connecting a smartphone, users can aim the device and compose on a familiar screen, moving directly from observation and capture to saving and sharing. Balanced weight distribution supports handheld use, while tripod compatibility provides stability for fixed observation.

The optical system magnifies distant subjects up to 25 times and reaches an equivalent focal length of up to 3000 mm, bringing lunar, bird, and wildlife details closer. ED low-dispersion glass and multi-layer coatings help control colour fringing, improve light transmission, and maintain image contrast.

On-device AI analyses the live image and provides framing assistance without requiring a network connection, keeping guidance available in outdoor locations with limited connectivity.

AR sky navigation directs users towards celestial targets, while AI recognition and personal records support identification, documentation, and later review of each observation.
