About The Entry

Bathed in abundant natural light, the residence unfolds through a refined palette of black, white, and gray, evoking the quiet elegance of a contemporary ink painting. Rich material textures and the ever-changing interplay of light and shadow bring subtle depth to the minimalist composition, allowing the space to feel both composed and inviting. Rather than relying on decorative excess, the design celebrates restraint, transforming the home into a timeless sanctuary where simplicity nurtures comfort and emotional well-being.

Designed for a middle-aged couple embracing a slower, more fulfilling stage of life, the project centers on openness, clarity, and an inner calm. In response to the homeowners' appreciation for modern minimalism, the design team reimagined the conventional compartmentalized layout, removing unnecessary partitions and eliminating superfluous ornamentation to maximize spatial openness and visual continuity.

By carefully balancing the couple's preferred monochromatic palette with their everyday functional needs, the design creates a residence that is both elegant and highly livable. The result is a home that embodies the sophistication of a boutique hotel while retaining the warmth of a private retreat—a place equally suited to welcoming guests with effortless hospitality or providing a peaceful sanctuary for quiet moments of relaxation.

The living room is anchored by a striking feature wall clad in natural marble, complemented by stately black stone-inspired steps, creating a refined and dramatic focal point. The rich textures and contrasting materials lend the space a quiet sense of grandeur while reinforcing the home's contemporary aesthetic.

To balance the cool stone elegance, a large area rug with soft, watercolor-inspired geometric patterns introduces warmth and texture beneath the seating area. Its subtle tonal variations soften the material palette, creating a more inviting and comfortable atmosphere for everyday living.

Responding to the homeowners' daily habits, the designer thoughtfully extends a slim, movable desk and chair beside the sofa, creating a discreet window-side workspace without interrupting the openness of the public area. Bathed in natural daylight, this intimate reading corner offers a peaceful setting for quiet reflection or focused work, where the changing light, expressive stone surfaces.
