L00P - Rethinking Dental Floss

This portable reusable oral care tool addresses the orthodontic cleaning needs of teenagers. Common oral care tools struggle to clean hard-to-reach molars due to their rigid structure, while single‑use floss picks generate plenty of plastic waste. Through market research, sketching, and comparative analysis of competitor product mixes, the student team completed the full cycle from concept to 3D‑printed validation, creating a portable floss that is bendable, refillable, and environmentally sustainable.

This floss features a bendable neck design, achieving 90° angle adjustment, so that users can maneuver around braces and thoroughly clean molars without opening their mouth wide or twisting their wrist. Internally, it employs a Click System and a Pully-like System, ensuring both operational stability and flexibility.

Materially, this floss uses an eco-friendly wheat straw fiber handle and a fully replaceable core for permanent reuse of the handle, enabling customization and catering to teenagers' desire for self-expression. With a length of just 140mm and a non-slip silicone grip, it folds down to 80mm when not in use—securely stored with a protective cap and clip for easy carrying, adapting effortlessly to campus and everyday settings.

This floss is not only a targeted innovation for a niche market, but also, with a sustainable design philosophy, delivers daily care that is easy, fun, and environmentally responsible—offering peers an eco-friendly choice that combines functionality and personality.
