FROM CLEANING TO GROWING
Circular Care reimagines the end of a kitchen sponge’s useful life. Instead of being discarded when it becomes worn, the wood-pulp sponge begins a second life as a temporary growing medium for a seed.
The system combines a biodegradable wood-pulp sponge, a transparent seed capsule and reusable packaging that can be transformed into a planting container. After completing its cleaning life, the sponge is thoroughly rinsed to reduce cleaning-agent residue. The user then removes the seed capsule and inserts it into the small opening at the center of the sponge.
This opening places the seed inside the sponge’s moisture-retaining core. Its porous structure maintains contact between water, air and the seed while providing physical support during early growth. Once placed in soil, residual organic matter and biodegradable wood-pulp fibers gradually enter the decomposition process. Microorganisms in the surrounding soil help break down these materials, returning nutrients to the growing environment.
Through one simple action, an ordinary cleaning tool is transformed into part of a new biological cycle. The sponge no longer represents the end of consumption, but a transition from daily use to regeneration.
Circular Care encourages people to reconsider the value hidden within worn everyday objects.
What once absorbed residue now supports new growth.
