VITAL ASCENT

Here is an English translation of your passage, condensed to about 220 words while preserving its poetic and descriptive quality.

Dali is a place shaped by the enduring presence of Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake, where clouds, forests, valleys and water create a landscape of remarkable serenity. Inspired by this distinctive natural character, the project introduces a resort-like way of living into everyday life, unfolding a journey from the city toward nature and from movement toward stillness.

The landscape is conceived as a continuous experience of cloud, forest, water and homecoming. Taking “Cloudgate Prime Realm,” “Hidden Valley & Brook,” “The Path of Homecoming,” “Tree Coffee,” and “Tea House Under the Trees” as a sequence of experiences, the design gradually reveals a series of intimate spaces immersed in nature.

Clouds become an abstract design language, while layered planting establishes the depth and softness of a mountain forest. Water moves quietly through the landscape, reflecting changing light and recalling the tranquil presence of Erhai. Carefully framed views, subtle changes in level and sheltered courtyards create moments of transition, discovery and retreat. Rather than reproducing the mountain landscape literally, the design distills its spirit through restrained forms, natural textures and a refined material palette.

The landscape extends beyond visual appreciation into everyday life. Shaded coffee spaces, intimate courtyards and a tea retreat create opportunities for gathering, lingering and quiet contemplation, allowing nature to become part of daily rituals.

More than a residential landscape, the project creates a contemporary retreat rooted in the spirit of Dali — where mountains become part of everyday life, clouds become a changing backdrop, and the rhythm of living naturally slows between Cangshan and Erhai.
