About The Entry
The global population of widowed elderly aged 60 and above has reached 1.2 billion. This group is highly vulnerable to insomnia, depressive moods and somatic symptoms, accompanied by a markedly elevated mortality risk. Targeting five major industry‑wide pain points — the lack of emotional companionship for solitary elderly people, insufficient psychological‑care knowledge among their adult children, high barriers to accessing online psychotherapy, and monitoring failure of traditional wearable devices once removed — this project integrates three‑modality sensing technologies: bio‑radar sensing, speech‑semantic interaction, and movement‑trajectory positioning to design an AI‑powered conversational pendant, supported by a companion management application for adult children.
The hardware pendant can capture the elderly user’s emotional states in real time. A short press on the button triggers announcements of nearby activities. When negative emotions are detected, the silicone deformable material on the back guides users toward regulated breathing for mood relief. Its enclosure adopts mineral‑filled reinforced recycled modified polypropylene, a sustainable eco‑friendly material. The mobile application enables visualized emotional‑data presentation, referral to online psychological counseling, AI‑enabled intelligent psychological‑case assessment, and device‑status management, forming an integrated solution combining guardianship and therapeutic intervention.
