Kungfu Hazy DIPA Packaging design

Kungfu Hazy DIPA is a beer packaging project created for Wild West Brewery, combining traditional Chinese ink-wash aesthetics with a contemporary craft beer identity.

The name connects the ritual of pouring with the philosophy of kungfu — patience, discipline and continuous refinement. Rather than depicting victory or spectacle, the central illustration presents a restrained duel between two figures among bamboo, mist and mountains. The encounter becomes a metaphor for self-discipline and the continuous process of measuring one’s work against one’s own standards.

Traditional Chinese ink-wash painting forms the foundation of the visual language. Bamboo, water, mountains and mist flow around the can as a continuous landscape, while the composition draws inspiration from the controlled tension and atmosphere of classic wuxia cinema.

The project aims to communicate Eastern aesthetics without reducing them to decorative motifs, using illustration, narrative and packaging design to create a distinctive identity for a contemporary Hazy DIPA.
